Garry,
I listened to your interview on NPR and immediately purchased your book. Your comments are quite relevant to our business culture. If every manager’s first expectation was to facilitate the success of his or her direct reports, our business environment would be radically different.
Many organizations share one common theme; that is they are activity driven. Twenty percent of managers and employees consistently achieve expectation, and the remainder is sustained as inconsistent achievers. Failure to achieve objective is a great challenge to business.
If organizations viewed employees as an extension of their brand, what could be achieved? The real fact is most organizations simply do not have the skill sets to accomplish this vision. They are trapped in a circle of poor performance.
While you are are a competitor of sorts to me, you have some great thoughts that will achieve the higher order we all strive communicate and achieve.
Best regards,
